Young fullback, Ben Wyatt recently spoke to web-master Richard Buckby following the two wins against AFC Sudbury and AFC Hornchurch.

You have got to go into every game believing you can win the game so everyone will be focused on that.
- Ben Wyatt

Ben, before we start can you enlighten us on your footballing background?
I was at Norwich from the age of 10 for 8 years up until the end of my scholarship before signing for Ipswich on a one year pro deal last season.

In our last two games we have beaten two teams who were there or thereabouts at the top of the league, firstly what did you make of the AFC Sudbury game?
I thought that it was our best performance of the season thus far. We all knew that a result like that was possible if we played like we know we can and it all came together on the day. It was also pleasing to get a clean sheet away from home against a good side.

Going in to the AFC Hornhurch game on Tuesday, the boys must have been bouncing with confidence - what are your views on the game against AFC Hornchurch?
Definitely, beating Sudbury proved that we can beat anyone in the league if we perform well so that gave everyone even more belief in ourselves. To score 3 goals in the first half was great but we knew that they would come out fighting in the second half, so to see off that threat showed a lot of character.

We are now three points outside the play-off spots with a game in hand, what do you see as a realistic target for the season?
It is still very early days, so we just need to take it a game at a time but seeing as we only came together a few months ago I think anything is possible as we continue to improve.

Next up, we have Thurrock. If Thurrock win their games in hand they will go top of the league. What are you expecting the result to be from this game?
You have got to go into every game believing you can win the game so everyone will be focused on that. Thurrock have clearly had a good start to the season judging by their league position but we are in good form as well and have enough ability in the side to get the result we’re aiming for if we play to our full potential on the day.

You have started every game this season, in the league and in the cup. Why do you think that is?
It has been great for me to play every game and to learn from this league, I always try to give everything I can in every game for the team, so hopefully it has been a reflection of my performances so far and I can continue to push on.

We have had our ups and downs already this season, but what has been the highlight and the darkest moment, in your opinion, so far this season?
The win against Sudbury has got to be a highlight for myself and the team, as I think that was a real turning point for everyone. The loss in the FA cup however was definitely a moment I would not like to re-live.

Lastly, out of the whole Maldon & Tiptree squad, other than yourself who have you been most impressed with?
I think it would be unfair to pick out any individual, collectively the lads have been great and everyone has different roles in the side. Darren and Femi have obviously been hitting the target for us up top which has been great but the rest of the lads have all worked hard to make sure they get in those positions and to put in winning performances.
