U13 EJA play on a mud patch and over come a spirited Hutton outfit.

U13 EJA progressed into the quarter finals of the county cup and played on a swamp to beat Hutton.

Without a game for five weeks the Junior Jammers finally played a fixture after being given a walkover against Chigwell Boys who failed to fulfill a fixture in the previous round.

Playing at Wash Road ,Hutton , the pitch resembled a swamp. Soft under foot, a sinking feeling, and conditions were more suited for the Maldon Mud Race than a game of football.

Credit to both teams they gave effort but after 5 weeks of not playing the Jammers were a little ring rusty,

The Jammers were in total control throughout and came under sporadic glimps of pressure.

The Jammers hit the post 5 times and missed 6 close range " sitters"
At one point it looked as though it's was going to be one of those days where one attack from the opposition could win the game.

Hutton made goal line clearances after another and to their credit never gave up.

Hutton against the run of play took the lead before halftime with a long range effort which found the bottom corner of the net.

Halftime was a mixture of stern words and encouragement to get Maldon on track, and from the kick off of the second half Maldon were on level terms when a through ball put Whymark on his way and after many attempts he finally hit the Net.

The second half was one way traffic and the Maldon forward line was like the Irish Centre Forward "Rick-O-Shea" as Maldon hit the post and crossbar on a number of occasions.

Maldon took the lead when Whymark was put through again and this time he hit a low firm strike past the keeper.

Maldon could of and should of put this tie to bed in the first half and if chances were taken could of reached double figures.

Maldon played the better football and into the quarters the jammers go where they play against Chelmsford City EJA .
