Some clinical finishing gives Maldon and Tiptree all three points against Brentwood Town
Brentwood Town FC v Maldon and Tiptree FC Bostik League One North Tuesday 26 September 2017
Jammers boss Kevin Horlock made four changes from the previous games line up with George Keys, Harvey Brown, Emmanuel Udoji and Alfie Rowland coming in with George Forrest and Kieran Bailey featuring on the bench but Matt Lock and Taofiq Olomowewe were unavailable due to injury.
Brentwood Town's Arena playing surface looked as good as it has for some time and both teams soon started getting some good football going with Brentwood's Jack Gardner seeing an early effort diverted just past the post but from the resultant Brentwood corner they were caught napping as Maldon and Tiptree's Chris Millar lead a very quick break out from one half to the other before freeing the unmarked Ryan Clampin down the left and his fierce shot seemed to go through home keeper Anthony Page and finish in the back of the net. Only 3 minutes later, in the 8th minute, Clampin claimed his second goal when Millar and Alfie Rowland did well down the right before getting a low cross into the goal area and Clampin was on hand to turn the ball home from close range. Play was certainly not restricted to the Brentwood goal and the Jammers defence just kept out two goal bound efforts with last ditch blocks before Clampin almost claimed his hat trick goal but, from Rowland's cross, he saw his fine shot just diverted narrowly past the post. After the home sides Nick Helder had seen his 25 metre first time volley go straight at Jammers keeper Domonic Kurasik the visitors went further ahead after 29 minutes when Clampin turned provider with a fine run down the left before going past his covering defender then putting in a pin point cross that found Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe in front of goal and he had little trouble putting the ball past isolated keeper Page. Maldon and Tiptree virtually put the game to bed after 33 minutes when Clampin completed a fine hat trick when another fast break out of defence saw Ryan Gondoh free Clampin to go clear of the defence to slide the ball past the advancing Page. The visitors Ogedi-Uzokwe then saw his 25 metre low effort from wide on the left just saved at the far post by Page then Millar sprinted from one penalty area to the other but then but his shot from the area edge well over. Brentwood's forward's were still creating some dangerous moments and visiting keeper Kurasik needed to be sharp on a couple of occasions to keep his goal intact but the home side should have pulled a goal back towards the end of the half but Matt Price headed just wide when well placed in front of goal.

Maldon and Tiptree's injury problems mounted as George Keys was withdrawn to be replaced by George Forrest at the start of the second half but they got the first meaningful attack in when Miller and Ogedi-Uzokwe exchanged passes before freeing Johnville Renee to get a shot away from the edge of the penalty area that Page saved. The home side started to get a much better hold on the game but their finishing continued to let them down with Price again putting a clear chance wide after Andy Freeman had done well down the left then Nick Helder got over a high cross that Brenden Cavalier headed wide. In fact it was the visitors came closest to scoring when Ogedi-Uzokwe's fine cross found Clampin at the far post but his low shot across goal went agonisingly along the goal line before going past the other post. Further problems for the Jammers management came after 62 minutes when both Millar and Rowland had to be replaced but despite some strong pressure from the home side, they would have been partially relieved after 75 minutes by Millar's replacement, Kieran Bailey, adding a fifth goal when another quick break saw Renee slip the ball into Bailey as he surged through on goal and the latter wrongfooted Page before putting the ball into an empty net. Brentwood gained some consolation with a goal after 77 minutes when Freeman's mazy run into the penalty area was halted with a foul tackle and he picked himself up to fire strongly past Kurasik. With Maldon and Tiptree playing the last 10 minutes with only ten men due to further injuries the home side continued to attack with a number of dangerous corners giving the visitors rearguard some uncomfortable moments and the home side did manage to score again after 87 minutes when Freeman got up well to head a left wing cross powerfully into the net.
