Jammers seal emphatic win

Needing to win to guarantee a home tie in the play offs Maldon and Tiptree turned in an excellent display to drive to a 7-1 win against luckless Barking FC
Maldon and Tiptree FC v Barking FC Bostik League One North Saturday 27 April 2019
Although knowing they were through to the end of season play offs the Jammers needed a win to ensure a home semi final place which they did in some style with an exciting exhibition of attacking football and good goal scoring.
Barking really should have handed the home side a big shock in the first minute when from the kick off, three passes put Nana Boakye-Yiadom through on goal, but he took to long to strike his shot and his effort was just diverted wide. The visitors paid a heavy price for this miss as, after Tariq Issa had seen his shot diverted just wide, the home side took the lead on 11 minutes when Eddie-Louis Dsane tricked his way down to the right by line before crossing for Percy Kiangebeni to fire home from just inside the penalty area. Keeping up the pressure the home sides Jack Cawley saw his header from Tariq Issa's right wing corner just pushed out to Billy Roast who saw his header well clawed away by visiting keeper Tim Brown before Dsane again was the creator to give Jorome Slew a shooting chance but his fine low shot flew just wide of the far post. Two goals in 2 minutes for the home side then followed with the first after 28 minutes when Kojo Awotwi and Liam Hope combined well to open up the visitors defence to free Issa to fire into the corner from just inside the penalty area. The second of a quick double came after 30 minutes when a great team passing move ended with the ball being played out to the left for overlapping full back Rob Girdlestone to take the ball into the visitors penalty area before firing low into the net at the far post. Things quietened down some what after this as play was contained into the midfield area although the Jammers Dsane hit a fierce shot just over from 15 metres before the visitors scored a surprise goal after 43 minutes when Maldon and Tiptree's Cawley was badly caught in possession by Boakya-Yiadom and the latter got away to fire a strong effort into the net from close range.
Half Time Maldon and Tiptree FC 3 Barking FC 1
With Wednesday's play off in mind Jammers boss Wayne Brown made two tactical substitutions at half time but that did little to reduce the goal threat that the home side posed with quick interpassing to feet often cutting through a dogged visitors defence. Maldon and Tiptree's Slew almost increased their lead but after cutting in from the left his shot was just saved by Brown before home substitute Laste Dombaxe was just denied by a last ditch tackle as he broke through on goal. Barking did then pose a rare threat on the home goal when Ola Ogunwamide broke through on goal but his rather weak shot was easily saved by home keeper Ben McNamara before another scoring burst saw two more goals in 3 minutes for the Jammers. On 58 minutes Kiangebeni played the ball up to Slew who saw his strong first effort blocked but he made no mistake from the rebound by cracking the ball into the corner then on 61 minutes Slew turned provider with a fine through ball to play Dsane in on goal and he finished well by putting his effort beyond exposed keeper Brown. Although Maldon and Tiptree continued to make decent goal scoring chances the tiring Barking defence held out until 77 minutes when Slew went through clear on goal but Brown blocked out the forwards effort but only to Dsane who, from outside the penalty area, expertly lobbed the ball back into an open goal. A late fine passing move from the home side ended with Kiangebeni shooting over before a free kick to the far post found Lewis Dark who's touch on was well saved by Brown to get the ball round the post then Maldon and Tiptree added goal number 7 in added time when Dsane and Slew combined well before Slew was put clear to fire home into the corner.
