New signing, Michael Salako (pictured left) has spoken to the club's website following yesterday's announcement that he has signed for the The Jammers

Welcome to the club Michael, how did the move come about?

The clubs assistant manager, Mark Levey has been keeping tabs on me since the start of the year and he was very keen on signing me after last season where I had been playing in the Ryman Division

Did the success of Femi Akinwande and Ben Wyatt help you when making your decision about signing for the club?

I was well aware of how successful Femi and Ben were when they played for Maldon & Tiptree and the fact that they signed for Colchester, it did influence me when making my decision to sign for the club. I wish both Femi and Ben the best of luck during their time at Colchester United.

You have been away from Essex at University, what have you been up too?

I have been studying for a business law degree, however I have been back a while now. I am preparing for the new season and getting my self in the best shape possible.

You have previously appeared for Bowers & Pitsea, who else have you played for so far in your career?

Last season I also played for Tooting & Mitcham and Walton & Hersham.

You have joined The Jammers at perhaps our most exciting time yet as we begin life under our new manager Kevin Horlock. Do you have any personal targets which you have set yourself for the 2016/17 season?

My personal target is to play as many games as possible and also to contribute to the team with as many goals as possible. Hopefully by the end of season, I will have achieved promotion with The Jammers

Do you think promotion is a realistic target for The Jammers in the 2016/17 season?

With the squad of players that I've been told about and considering how strongly the same group of players finished last season, yes I think promotion is a realistic target for the football club.

Lastly, most people will recognise your surname and relate you John Salako, is he any relation of yours?

Haha. I am not directly related to John Salako, but perhaps somewhere along the line I may well be related to him.
