Defender, Joe Claridge has caught up with the clubs Media team before Saturday's match against AFC Hornchurch.

Q1: Joe, we have spoken before and since you have managed to cement a regular place in our starting eleven. What have you made to your start as a Jammer?

A1: We have made an indifferent start in the league. Obviously it was disappointing to go out of the cup, then we had a run of wins, if we can get some consistency again I think we can continue to work our way up the table.

Q2: We have lost our last two games which have put a dent in our play-off chances. Can you put your finger on what's gone wrong in the last two games?

A2: At times going forward we have looked unplayable, for example against Witham and Wroxham. Other times we have made some silly mistakes at the back and not taken full advantage of chances up the pitch, if we cut those errors and carry on being clinicle hopefully we can start seeing some positive changes.

Q3: On Saturday, we welcome Hornchurch who are also expected to be in or around the play-offs. How do you expect today's game to pan out?

A3: Saturdays game will of course be a tricky one, as most games are in this league. Everyones aim is to get out the league, today our aim is to obviously get back to winning ways with a good performance all over the pitch.

Q4: What do you think has been your best and worst moment in a Maldon shirt to date?

A4: Best moment so far has to be the win against Witham, we worked hard as a team, especially the second half performance. Worst moment was losing to Tilbury after being 2-0 up.

Q5: You have already scored one goal for The Jammers this season, are you hoping to add more goals to your collection?

A5: I love getting forward as much as I can because I feel that is a stronger part of my game. Goals are always nice but as a defender, clean sheets win you games, I think we have enough quality in the final third to win us games.

Q6: We have already had a couple of players move on to Colchester United. Is that one of your aims for this season?

A6: I think for anyone in this team moving on to a professional club is what we want. At the minute im balancing work and football which is sometimes a struggle but I'm always giving 100% to improve every week and hopefully I can push on as the season goes on.

Q7: You're a local lad, in comparison to most of our squad. Do you think this makes a difference?

A7: Personally I dont feel as though this makes a difference. Obviously its nice for home games as Im just around the corner, but away games are all over the place and we train in Colchester so its not that much of a difference for us all.
